If you get a chance to see Luke Dick's documentary Red Dog, you should. Don't get turned off by the topic. It may be a little rough, but Luke's mom is a force of nature and one of the most compelling people you will ever meet. It is equally depressing and uplifting, sad and hysterically funny. And his music throughout is, as always, great. It is fascinating to watch a person who you've followed for several years suddenly explode into view. With a new retro-punk band "Republican Hair" a couple of Grammys and now this film at SXSW, he is suddenly everyplace. Besides this recent profile in The Daily Beast, he is also in Rolling Stone, NPR, and Billboard this week. He deserves it.
